Bailey Gilbert Mrs. Coker English IV 29 February 2016 How Would FDR Save America? Franklin Delano Roosevelt has been remembered over the years for numerous reasons. Many believe he changed the American way of viewing society during his long, stressful presidency. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president to speak on national television. Roosevelt served as president longer than any other president who has taken office. Not only did Roosevelt manage to survive the Great Depression but also World War II. When thoroughly analyzing Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency, one may think of each term separately along with the numerous deals and programs that fell behind each individual term. When Franklin D. It took such a toll on society that the next act put into place would be the Agricultural Adjustment Act. The Agricultural Adjustment Act allowed a particular part of the middle class, the farmers, to be able to receiv e help from the government (Littrell, Jill, et al. 100). Farmers had reached a point when the demand for crop growth was actually no longer a demand. The major drop in prices of some products almost made it nonprofitable to even grow certain crops. To resolve the low crop demand and help farmers, Congress passed the Agricultural Adjustment Act. This act’s goal was for over-production of crops to cease and prices to rise. To achieve their goal, the Agricultural Adjustment Act made a deal with American farmers to pay them a subsidy to kill off certain livestock and to not plant certain crops. With many obstacles standing in their way, they achieved their goal. Many different groups of people were deprived during the Great Depression, but among these, the majority of them were young men. There was such a drastic number of unemployed young men that Franklin D. Roosevelt came up with the Civilian Conservation Corps (Lapsansky-Werner, Emma, et al. 288).
